Costa Rica Weddings Locations
Thank you for visiting our section about getting married in Costa Rica. After photographing and helping plan over 1500 weddings in this country and meeting thousands of people who have come from all over the world to exchange their wedding vows I decided to share some of my experiences with those of you who are thinking of doing the same.
Joan is one of the most successful wedding photographers (she photographs a lot more weddings than I do) in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean. For her wedding (to Clive an haute cuisine chef) she chose Costa Rica. Needless to say I was extra nervous because I was being observed by my peers.
I always recommend that you leave the details and logistics up to professionals who can be trusted to expertly execute such decisions. Whether you are planning a simple elopement or a large wedding with many guests (especially in the latter case.) The reason is simple: Getting married is one of the most emotionally charged activities we will ever undertake, and I think it’s best to leave the matters involving the left side of the brain to others.

A perfect example of a relaxed bride, barefoot, at sunset, at the beach. Does she look stressed out about anything? I’m telling you.. getting married in Costa Rica is the way to go.
Remember that you’re dealing with a different culture and possibly a different language, and that a wedding –no matter how small- involves many details. My advice to you is to leave nothing to chance and to let a professional plan as much of your wedding as you can allow or afford. There are a number of options and I have the privilege of working with the best in the country. I will be happy to issue recommendations.

"Fernando, Angie and I want to “Thank you” for the beautiful pictures you took for our wedding in Costa Rica. Since our family could not be there, the pictures are very important to sharing the experience with our families. We had a great time and you were very creative and nice to work with. We appreciate your expertise and flexibility with our wishes.
The website was great, and the CD’s made it very easy to look at all the pictures and determine which ones we liked best.”

It is of utmost importance to me that this page and its contents be as objective and impartial as possible so I want to tell you that I do not charge commissions to any of my clients for putting them in touch with the people and services that can professional execute their wedding event. By the same token I would never accept a commission from a vendor for referring clients or client information to them.

“Dear Fernando,
I wanted to let you know that from the first day I met you my instincts told me to hire you. It could have been a number of things, for instance your charm, or you straight forwardness, maybe it was your professionalism. Who am I kidding as soon as I saw your work I was sold! You seriously made my wedding complete. You calmed me down when the world felt like it was spinning. You secured me that everything was going to come out perfect, and that was what I needed to hear. When Darren and I received the pictures we were very anxious to see them, and they turned out better than anything we had imagined. In fact Darren told me that it was worth every cent! Thank you once again for all your help.
Tanya Chamadia”

I am simply a wedding photographer striving to become one of the very best “people” photographers in the world. It is my passion and the professional endeavor I pursue above all others. I am not a casual weekend photographer. I am not doing photography for extra income. I do not take my craft lightly. I charge a fair professional rate for my services and that suffices to satisfy me. When I’m not photographing weddings I’m photographing life, humanity, and the passage of time. It is an endless pursuit and something I would do with or without financial remuneration.

"It’s impossible not to get the best results when couples are here to laugh and have fun. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone enjoy themselves as much as they did. Penny had this to say:
“Both Shawn and I want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making our day so incredible. It was fabulous to be so relaxed and worry free. The day was incredibly intimate and full of emotion, felt by every one of our guests. It was a wedding that everyone will be talking about for a long
time to come because it was so special (that and because it was in Costa Rica of course!)”

When clients hire me they are insured to receive my professionalism, technical and artistic skill, and an intense desire to deliver the definitive record of one of the most special days in their lives. It is an assignment that I never take lightly. I often envision the cherished portrait –like the few I have of my own parents- and how important that will become with the passage of time.
